As promised, behold our lovely Holiday windows. We’re loving the white, winter wonderland feel to them, and strongly believe that they’re best viewed at night.

After the shop did a complete transition into fall we began to notice how many beautiful colours there were all around the shop, especially all the reds that were popping up! They added a beautiful burst of colour and looked really great with all the gold accents, so this past weekend we decided to show them off in our newest window display. We dressed down a metallic party dress with a preppy striped cardigan, mixed a patterned maxi with textured ivory lace and showed off the adorable bow details on the back of one of our favourite striped dresses! The pop of colour adds so much to these outfits and helps keep spirits high as the temperature drops!

It’s definitely Fall outside and things are transitioning inside Bicyclette as well with fall shipments arriving and more details popping up daily. Here are a few Instagram shots to keep you updated with things that have been happening around the shop including; Spring ’12 buying appointments, sequins pillows, crafting supplies, our new love seat, Denj bracelets and lots of fall patterns.

The other day I posted photos of our new glittery window display, but I left out the outfit detail shots so as not to overwhelm you. I know that sometimes too many pretty photos can just be too much excitement for one post. We’ve been receiving our Fall deliveries over the past couple of weeks and will continue to into September, and the more we unpack the more I fall in love with the transitional pieces and my excitement for Fall layering increases. We have gorgeous knits from Covet and One Teaspoon, fun printed pieces from Something Else (which is quickly becoming a favourite new line), and a collection of various accessories to top it all off. Bring on the change of seasons!

Our window got a makeover yesterday, with a bit of a mismatched theme of back to school meets early Fall meets glitter girl fantasy. Complete with gold glittered apples, handwritten notes in hot pink sharpie, stacks of old books, and of course a selection of our new Fall merchandise. Pretty sure there’s no better way to usher in a new season …

I’ve always loved pencil drawn fashion illustrations, especially when they’re used in a context that is unexpected, such as a life size interior store display. I’ve blogged about illustrator Kelly Smith before, and it appears that she’s teamed up with Australian store Portmans again to lend her talent to their windows and displays. With the current face of Portmans being the gorgeous Abbey Lee Kershaw, the campaign features illustrations of her, and the effect, once again, is bold and breathtaking. Below are some photos of the illustrations being used within the store, but also make sure to check Kelly’s blog for the originals.

There have been a few wine induced brainstorming discussions with my good friend and incredibly talented illustrator Alex Perlin about doing something similar for Bicyclette, and this has got me all the more excited about the possibility.

It’s hard to keep updated with all in the new changes that are constantly happening in the shop, but I’m finding that Instagram is such a good way to capture moments and certain display features before they are switched or items are purchased.

In celebration of our country’s birthday, we decided to do a little window makeover and celebrate the day with a healthy infusion of red and white. Really, we just love any excuse to go crazy with  a colour theme, especially when it involves balloons.

Happy Canada Day!

I’ve been a horrible blogger this past week, and instead of providing a daily countdown to the shop opening, I’ve been neglecting the whole process, let alone posting photos and updates. Trust me though, I have a very good excuse, and it’s all worth it. I’ve never worked so hard, slept so little, or tackled such a huge project in such a small amount of time, but I couldn’t be happier with the challenge and the results.  Thank you to everyone who helped out along the way, I couldn’t have done it without you, and I am so very grateful.

Yesterday Bicyclette opened the doors at 880 Queen St. West here in Toronto, and it was pretty fantastic. I’ll be snapping photos of the interior today, including some of my favourite new pieces, but for now, enjoy this little snapshot of the current window.

I’m a sucker for display inspiration, so when I came across this gem via Kelly Smith’s blog (one of my favourite illustrators) I was pretty excited. I always love when handmade elements are contrasted with more traditional props and elements, and these displays are the perfect balance.  They’re from Portmans, which appears to be a department store in Australia, and Kelly Smith did the fashion and bird illustrations that adorn the window. Loving the colour story and the ribbons … and the lights!
