Today was spent looking at lines for Fall (slightly odd, I know, considering that we’ve just started to enjoy our summer weather finally!), and doing some studio fix-ups/organizing. It always amazes me how short the days begin to feel when there is so much to do. I’m still trying to get in as much as I can before I call it a day, but I wanted to share some sneak peaks of what the studio is starting to look like. As I mentioned before, the whole room is still in complete disarray, but I tried to capture a few of the pieces that are coming together. Tomorrow is dedicated to painting the chalkboard wall, which I’m extremely excited about, so hopefully I’ll be able to share more once that’s done.

Vintage luggage vignette, in keeping with the retro travel theme that I always love. And of course my Eiffel tower statue in the background, one of Bicyclette icons.

Organization system: I have two huge honeycomb shelves and individual bags to hold each style. What you can't see is the little Instax snapshot on each bag that will indicate what style is being held within. More on my new camera in the future!

Vanity and vintage frames from the exhibit. The frames will be arranged above and used to display jewelry pieces. The vanity will be home to business cards and various other takeaway pieces.
As the long weekend comes to a close, it’s finally time to get back to the computer and deal with my other, online, Bicyclette reality. I’ve spent the weekend hunting for storage options (Saturday morning Ikea hell, let me tell you!), building shelves, sanding walls and painting rooms, cleaning, purging and organizing, and trying to sneak every moment of sun, biking and BBQs that I can. Yes, a very work-oriented long weekend, but you’ll find no complaints here.
I’m so excited to continue the switch of rooms in my apartment, moving our bedroom into the second room and transforming the old bedroom/large room into the Bicyclette studio/office/showroom. Everything is still a mess, but it’s starting to come together, and I’m hoping that by the end of this week, the majority of it will be complete. I promise that I will document the transformation with photos after all is said and done! Trust me though, at this stage, there is nothing you’re going to want to see. It’s very subtly organized chaos!
As I mentioned, I’ve been busy being away from the computer (a welcome change, I must say!), so for tonight’s post, I leave you with a quick snap of one of my favourite Bicyclette outfits thus far. Since Audrey the Mannequin took up a permanent residency in the studio, I’ve been constantly dressing her up and styling her in various items from the boxes of merchandise that have a temporary home in the middle of the floor. It’s been hard for me not to be able to properly display or organize anything, and since I’m such a visual person, I like to be able to see what it is I’m dealing with. So being able to put together outfits is the perfect way for me get my fix!
Everything you see here will be for sale on the website once everything is ready to go … crochet vest, silk crop top, organic cotton tank, lace skirt, Soos jewelry. I’m loving the play on proportions, mix of textures and hint of colour.
I’m thinking of making this a regular feature on the blog, is this something you’d like to see more of? Playing dress-up, putting together an outfit …”what Audrey wore” …”
I’ve been in full studio pre-planning mode, as my brother’s completed the first phase of moving out, so the second room in our apartment is almost free. Yesterday I set up a very temporary studio space in the half-empty room so that I could display all the merchandise I have so far for a few friends who wanted to come over and take a peek, and it got me even more excited to start setting up the actual studio.
Scouring the internet for inspiration and ideas has become my latest hobby, and most recently, after being asked by a few different people how I plan to display and organize the jewelry, I’ve been on the hunt for creative ways to do so. We all know about my love for vintage luggage, so when I found this photo, which marries that and my current need for displays, it was perfect.
I’d obviously have to get creative with how I actually get it to function for what I need it to do, and keep my eyes out for a few more pieces, but I love the concept.
What do you think? Any other creative jewelry display ideas?
On this horribly gloomy, dismal day, I decided it was time to start tackling the insanity that is my bedroom, in preparation for it being turned into the bicyclette studio. This seems like the perfect opportunity to get rid of as much as possible, so I’m trying to be selective when I edit my possessions. We’re moving our bedroom into the smaller room in the apartment (which was previously occupied by my brother), and the larger room with the huge front window is being turned into the studio and work area. Tres exciting! I currently have five bags of clothes to get rid of and my bed is covered with winter clothes to be packed away, which to me is progress. I figure that like any big overhaul, the whole apartment will get more chaotic before it gets organized.
Anyways, today I stumbled across a new interior blog that I will be adding to my list of dailies, Made By Girl, and it was as if the universe knew I needed inspiration, because one of the posts I came across was photos of her home office renovation. For some reason I’ve had difficulty finding images for reference, so this was perfect, right along the lines of what I needed, at the right time.
I love the white, the bright infusions of colour, the graphic wallpaper, the storage systems, the quirky decorating accents, the inspiration board … gives me some great ideas for designing my own space.
If anyone has any other sources of studio/office space inspiration, or some neat project and ideas they think I might be able to incorporate, feel free to pass them along to me! It’s about that time, and I’d love the input …
White washed walls. Streaming sunlight. Accents of colour. A vintage aesthetic and carefully constructed vignettes. This is what my dreams are made of. White is often thought to be sterile and lacking in personality, but I find it to be quite the opposite, a blank canvas and an opportunity to play with texture and details.

I love the rustic details, the imperfections in the chipping paint and the coziness that is exuded. There’s a story here, and the vignettes of found objects and various trinkets communicate this.
I can’t wait to start putting together the bicyclette studio (more on this soon!), drawing inspiration from interior’s such as these. The hard part will be incorporating functional workspace into the mix.
