I have a soft spot for both NYC and LA, both being cities that I travel to relatively frequently on buying trips, and I love how different they are from each other. Where NYC is fast paced, LA is laid back and it’s interesting to compare the differences in lifestyle and fashion. I like to think that Bicyclette draws inspiration from both (with a little Paris thrown into the mix), and caters to girls who would associate their personal style with both cities. Free People‘s new January catalogue captures the essence of each city spot on, and it’s fun to view the images side by side and dream up stories of both characters.
So the question is, are you an NYC or LA girl?

Ever since we saw this DIY blog post on Just B, we have been craving our very own Newspaper Nails. In classic Bicyclette Girl fashion, both Emily and I came into work today with matching turquoise, freshly painted nails. We knew this was the perfect opportunity to test out these funky printed nails.
We ran to the closest pharmacy store to pick up some Rubbing Alcohol and after following all the steps from our favourite DIY blog (Just B), we have completed our first attempt at newspaper nails!

The weather has been so gloomy this week in Toronto that we’ve been searching for inspiration to keep our energy levels high. After blasting old-school Spice Girls tunes 3 days in a row, we decided to play dress up at Bicyclette. One of our models and sales associate extraordinaire, Emily, had a very creative idea. She decided to tie up one of our favourite Micheal Stars t-shirts into a cute skirt. We love how you can turn a super soft basic tee into a one-of-a-kind, comfy skirt. Who doesn’t love clothes that can be transformed into other pieces? WE DO!

Emma posted a few of her favourite pieces from the most recent delivery last week, and now it’s my turn. I’ve been drawn to a more colourful palette recently, whether that means muted pastel hues or bright infusions, and I have my eye on anything with feminine details. Hence the blush blazer, bow belt and girly lace shift dress.

Nautical inspired striped halter dress. Light and airy, accessories optional.

Probably my favourite piece from the current collection: the blush blazer. Ruched sleeves and a fitted silhouette. So perfect with denim, your favourite tee and a sparkly necklace

Lace shift dress. Simple and gorgeous.

Breezy turquoise swing top and crochet covered purse. Summer essentials.

Turqoise bow belt. Probably one of the cutest ways to cinch your waist.
With all of the new merchandise in the store, we decided to create our own shopping wishlists. I am loving neutral pieces right now..maybe because our Toronto weather has been so dreary lately. But I love how all of these neutral items can be accessorized with a pop of colour to add a summery twist.
Below you’ll find all of my new favourite things, and be sure to check back within the next few days to see what’s on Paige’s wishlist!

Hello Bicyclette lovelies! I would like to start off by introducing myself, my name is Kayla; pleasure to meet you! You will be seeing and hearing more from me in the coming weeks as I will be helping Paige out online (and offline) at the Bicyclette boutique. Today I bring you the daily inspiration fresh from the Wildfox blog. Like a real-life version of Polyvore, this quirky take on the classic “outfit post” is perfect for those of us who love to showcase our personal style, but hate the camera in our face. Expect to see current Bicyclette pieces featured like this on the blog very soon!

I have a serious obsession, as if you didn’t already know: Hot pink. I just can’t seem to get it out of my system. It’s currently adorning my nails, and every time I come across a piece in this infectious hue, I go into serious covet mode. Le sigh. So here’s a little Sunday evening inspiration for you. I’ve already purchased the bralette, and I’m thinking I may need those pants.

Thought I would put together a compilation of my daily outfits from The Clothing Show last weekend, which includes a selection of pieces from Bicyclette (of course!), both old and new. You can expect to see a lot of the styles you don’t recognize in the shop soon … get excited!
I’ve been catching up on my blog reading, and was thrilled when I came across Robyn’s post on her blog, Rhitbee-isms, from last week, featuring the Daisy Chain Lace Tank! This has been one of my favourite pieces to style, and Robyn grabbed the cream version which isn’t in the shop yet, but will be soon. The black version can be found here. This piece is so versatile, and I love how Robyn’s styled it, with the military jacket and her signature vintage flair. Tres chic.
Also, make sure to take a peek at Robyn’s online shop, Rhitbee Anne Vintage, and do some treasure hunting!
Hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend! I spent the majority of time organizing the studio and thrifting, managing to procure a fine selection of vintage goodies for the studio. Photos to follow.
I just had to share my love for this Acne shirt. Ever since I saw it, I’ve been obsessed with it’s just-right sheerness, the hard-to-perfect slouch, and the vintage-inspired floral pattern. Unfortunately it comes with a not-so-perfect price tag for my budget, but a girl can still dream, right? There’s something about oversized button-ups in flowing fabrics that seems so right for transitioning into fall and layering over leggings and denim, and under sweaters and leather jackets. And don’t worry, I haven’t forgot about this trend for Bicyclette: there will be a subtle ivory version as well as a snakeskin print hitting the store in the next month.
