I’ll be adding Mink Pink to the Bicyclette lineup come October, and I couldn’t be more excited. The line is perfect, in my opinion – vintage-inspired and aware of trends, but not bound by them; young, fun and not afraid to play around with colour, pattern, texture and shape; and you couldn’t ask for a better price point.

And so, for those of you who haven’t already seen it, allow me to introduce some images from the Fall/Winter 10 collection. And don’t worry, I’ve pointed out which pieces I’ve bought for Bicyclette, so you can start compiling your wish lists!

Time for the big question – what’s your favourite MinkPink piece from this collection so far? Leave it in the comments!

Lace trim crop top. That covetable slouchy fit that's perfect for layering.

High-waisted leather shorts. Cuffed, and oh-so-vintage. Picturing them layered over tights.

Long, leopard print cardi (the perfect animal print) and striped, long sleeved tee dress.

Leather look moto leggings. I'm thinking styled with oversized layers on top.

And finally, the pièce de résistance: the structured, sequin blazer. So perfect!

My North by Northeast craziness is still in full swing (so many bands, so little time!) and I’ve been avoiding my computer  for more social engagements, my apologies. With the weather that we’ve been having and the full music roster though, can you really blame me? But after talking to my Mom earlier, I let slip that my weekly goal is to blog at least five times, at which point she informed me that my last post was on Thursday, meaning that I’ve only hit the four post mark for this week. Ooops! This one’s for you, Mom.

Like I mentioned on Thursday, there’s been a lot going on with Bicyclette in the last little while. More graphics and branding (of which I don’t want to give too much away before the site launch!), a photo shoot collaboration between Shelby and I which is finally scheduled for next week (so exciting!), and a few more lines booked for Fall/Holiday ’10. So just to pique your curiosity, here’s a sneak peak from the MinkPink Holiday collection, which I’ll be starting to stock in October! More to come soon …

Technically this isn’t a Bicyclette specific blog post, but because it has to do with shopping, dresses and floral prints, I figured it was fair game. Plus, I’m curious to see what other people think of this.

So here’s the situation: last week I was window shopping at 69 Vintage, which quickly turned into real shopping when my eyes fell on this dress, Exhibit A:

The sweetheart neckline, slim silhouette, slightly impressionistic floral print, and cool colour palette were perfection, and upon trying it on and discovering that it was practically made for my body, it was a sure purchase.

Throughout the rest of the day, as I had lunch with my girlfriends and gave them a mini-tour of the studio, the dress remained on my mind, not because of shopping guilt (it was too fantastic to regret), but because I kept thinking of how familiar the shape and print was.

And low and behold, it came to me. Allow me to present Exhibit B, the Minkpink “I Ken Done It” dress:

How close are these two prints? And the style? I know mine is vintage because the fabrication is different than this Minkpink style, and the tag is obviously vintage.

So what do you think? Did this vintage dress inspire the Minkpink style? Purely coincidence?
