Bicyclette is excited to announce that we’re bringing on another full time employee, Emily! You’ll recognize Emily’s lovely face and fiery hair, as she’s been modelling for us for awhile now and helping out at the shop over the summer. As Emma’s summer internship comes to a close (sad face), Emily will be taking over many of her tasks and you’ll be seeing a lot more of her online. Welcome, Emily!
Where did you go to school, and what for?
I just graduated in June form the Acting Conservatory at York University. I’m currently pursuing a career in acting.
Favourite Toronto neighbourhood?
I’m loving Little Italy where I live. Best patios in town, chilled bottle of prosecco with a gooey margherita pizza- can’t beat it!
Wardrobe staples?
There is nothing I feel better in than a nice fitted jacket/blazer. Thats why I’m so excited for fall- Dark denim, a plain white tank and a cute blazer or jean jacket and I couldn’t be happier. My Deux Lux bag has also been a summer staple, I’m a bag lady.
What are you coveting for FW ’11 ?
I’m coveting layers, big knits, vintage bowl hats, glittery Jeffery Campbell oxfords, frilly socks, long skirts and tweed jackets.
What do you admire about Bicyclette?
I admire Bicyclette so much because it’s one big art project. Every time I come in I can look around and find new details everywhere. It’s a place where I feel free to express myself. Paige is such an artist and I love surrounding myself with people who inspire me. I’m a very creative person and Bicyclette allows me to release some of that at work- whether it’s taking photos, styling outfits, painting old knick knacks or listening to some great music.
Favourite style blog?
I love Cupcakes and Cashmere and I Love Wildfox. I like style blogs that use the word ‘style’ in the broader sense of the term, not just referring to what you wear.
Style icons?
Biggest style icon is Mary Kate Olsen. I love how effortlessly she mixes hippy/edgy with chic/classy. White tees, platforms, middle parts, baggy cardigans, sheer rock tees, huge scarves, vintage pieces- I love it all. She’s simplistically chaotic.
Top 3 items currently at Bicyclette?
1) Covet Grey Cropped Knit (featured below). It’s our first taster of whats coming for fall and it’s got me very excited for a cool breeze.
2) Equipment Bird Print Blouse. I’m loving all of our blouses but the print’s adorable.
3) Michael Stars Striped Sweater. I love simple, well fitted tops that are comfortable and that you can pair with a statement necklace or a great pair of shoes to spice it up.

There are a few brands who always amaze us with their perfectly styled, themed lookbooks, and MinkPink has always been one of those. Unfortunately we won’t be moving forward with the line after the Fall season (due to proximity issues within the area, sad, I know) but we still had to share the Spring ’12 lookbook as inspiration.

Happy Friday!
Just thought I’d share this little bit of press that one of our favourite MinkPink dresses received in LouLou Magazine. The Gretel Lace Up dress, with its vintage-inspired lace detailing and rosy blush hue, is an ideal piece for spring.
And the final instalment of the February lookbook. I hope you’ve enjoyed the photos and they’ve provided a little bit of spring inspiration to help you get through this last stretch of winter. With Valentine’s day a few days away and new pieces arriving weekly, our minds are on pale pinks and breezy styles that are ideal for transitioning. This blush-hued dress from MinkPink draws inspiration from the 90s in the shape and detailing and we can picture it perfectly on Kelly Taylor.
If you want to take a look at the entire lookbook, it appears here. Happy Saturday.

The Holiday Pop-Up Shop kind of took precedence over the last little while, resulting in a delay of shooting new product and getting it up into the shop. So since we have some new MinkPink pieces that are begging to be shared, I figured the blog would be the perfect outlet.
Pieces have already started selling and there’s only a few in each style, so if there are any items you’re coveting, let us know.

Seneca Rising Brawner Dress, $168 / MinkPink Sunday Best Cape, $128
The Black Magic Sequin Blazer, from MinkPink. Yes, it is possible to love a blazer.
So I missed two days (it happens, busy!), but I’ll try to make it up with two extra outfits at the end of the week, especially since a new Motel shipment just arrived.
Today’s outfit focuses on separates again, offering that element of versatility and an opportunity to mix and match that I believe is key. The sweater is a piece that is easy, perfectly retro-inspired and glam all at once, and is equally fabulous paired with simple denim as it is dressed up. And the skirt? A classic mini with a twist, with the black studding and exposed front zipper. Ideal for slouchy tops and layering.

I’ve started a week of long nights adding product to the site, which means that yes, it’s almost there. Little by little, it’s starting to take shape before my eyes. Making buttons has become my preferred method of procrastination, and today I designed a series of floral patterned beauties, which I’ll post in a little while. I love how easy it is, and the satisfaction that comes from producing something yourself. A few moments here and there to grow my collection. I’m also experimenting with pinning them to my business cards to hand out.
Some favourite images from the MinkPink Spring ’11 look book. I’ll be doing the buy for Bicyclette next month (in mere weeks, really), so it’s nice to have a little preview of the pieces I’ll be seeing. Loving the muted, pastel tones and faded prints, and of course the vintage aesthetic and easy layering that MinkPink does so well. The photos all remind me of faded photos from vacations past. Looks like floral patterns, lace, and playing with shapes and proportions are here to stay for another season.
