With it being the last day of September, we figured we better launch this month’s lookbook before it’s too late, so we’re splitting the images between today and tomorrow, and we’ve also posted a behind the scenes teaser video as well, which is a first for us.

Full of layered textures, chunky knits and dashes of hot pink, allow me to introduce you to our September lookbook!

One of my favourite aspects of transitional dressing is layering, and one of my favourite pieces to do so with is a scarf. These past couple of days we’ve started to feel a chill in the air, providing a perfect opportunity to grab a scarf and get creative with our accessories. It was with this in mind that we decided to bring in a few pieces from Leigh & Luca for Fall. Each scarf is handwoven using the highest quality cashmeres, silks and cottons, and embellished with innovative hand embroidery, printing and flocking techniques. Every oversized scarf is meant to be worn in a number of different ways, and each print is exclusive to Leigh & Luca and created as part of limited editions. Plus, they use the most charming little illustrations and we love all the different ideas of how to wear them.

Since we’re receiving a lot of new Fall stock right now and the past month or so has been pretty slow with the outfit posts, I figure it’s only fair that I keep the outfit posts coming.

Today we received Eryn Brinie and I had to restrain myself from letting out a squeal when it arrived. Buying for the shop is one of my favourite aspects of the job, but it’s also the hardest. Not only are you buying for over 6 months in the future, but there’s also a tendency to fall in love with items only to have to wait until you’re able to lay eyes on them again, let alone wear them. The ivory sweater below is one such piece, and in many ways it exemplifies what Bicyclette stands for. It’s essentially a simple sweater, in a gorgeous ivory hue with a simple silhouette, but the beauty is in the detail: the feminine tulle hemmed camisole that comes layered under the sweater. Not only does it add that essential  je ne said quoi to the piece, but because it is separate from the sweater itself, it lends itself to a world of layering possibilities with other items. And that’s what I call true love.

The other day I posted photos of our new glittery window display, but I left out the outfit detail shots so as not to overwhelm you. I know that sometimes too many pretty photos can just be too much excitement for one post. We’ve been receiving our Fall deliveries over the past couple of weeks and will continue to into September, and the more we unpack the more I fall in love with the transitional pieces and my excitement for Fall layering increases. We have gorgeous knits from Covet and One Teaspoon, fun printed pieces from Something Else (which is quickly becoming a favourite new line), and a collection of various accessories to top it all off. Bring on the change of seasons!

So… it’s been a week since our last blog post, and we’re feeling pretty guilty, which means that it’s about time to make it up to you and treat you to a stream of amazing content and pretty pictures. We promise. Not only have we been extremely busy at the shop (that’s an understatement), but with not having internet at home and having my phone stolen earlier this week, I’ve felt a little disconnected from the online world. But we’re back now, and that’s all that really matters!

Without further ado, I bring you today’s outfit post, which is a nice indication of some of the new styles that the shop is currently bursting with: playful patterns, luxe silks, cropped silhouettes, and a delightful array of accessories.

Black and white prints, with a little metallic infusion and a touch of the southwest

Just-received lace bandeaus are the perfect layering piece, and gold accents and sunnies are a must

A rosy nude coloured silk crop tee is a staple, and the Biko fringe necklace adds just the right amount of industrial edge

There's no such as thing as too many prints, and this Miu Miu inspired cat print is a current favourite

One would think, what with it being the end of April and all, that we would have seen warmer weather by now. Not the case. Instead of donning our spring apparel, we continue to lust over it via the Internet and our closets, anxiously awaiting the day when it is seasonally appropriate to be bare-legged in public.

The following looks are a part of Free People’s “Tiny Dancer” collection, which feature flowy textures and light colours. The grey sweater/pleated pink mini-skirt with boots look is by far my favourite, as it is the perfect combination of pretty and tough.

We’re currently gravitating towards the open knits and slouchy sweaters that we currently have in store, which are the perfect pieces to pair with lighter styles in this seemingly never-ending transitional season.

Today’s outfit is brought to you by a few of our favourite spring details: florals, open knits and pleating. I was so excited to be able to have the shop door open all day today, and it got me thinking about how I could wear some of the pieces in the shop right now without having to wait for the temperatures to rise. This outfit is made up of pieces that can worn into the warmer months, but also layered to wear now.

Neutral hues and a variety of layered textures.

Military details and a little gold embellishment.

Open weave knits and longer silhouettes.

Tiny florals offset the cargo jacket and an antique link necklace is a subtle accessory.

Sheer pleats create a perfect, flowing movement. Loving maxi's!

I’ve decided to instigate a new little feature on the blog with (almost) daily outfits, so that those of you who aren’t able to make it to the shop can see what clothes we’re currently coveting and I have an excuse to dress mannequins on a daily basis.

Today’s is a tribute to the gorgeous sunny day we had, and the promise that warm weather is right around the corner, which means lighter layers and bare skin. We all know about my love affair with Australian line One Teaspoon, and today’s outfit was based around one of my favourite pieces from this last shipment. The beauty of this ensemble is that this is only the beginning. To wear now, pair with black tights and a blazer or leather jacket.

Nothing says summer like light denim and white. One Teaspoon distressed top with white faux leather collar. Gorgeous.

Throw on a polka dot scarf and multi-strand Lauren Elan necklace to add character.

Perfect-for-layering lace trimmed tank dress. Also comes in black. The options are endless, really.

Just arrived from Evil Twin (sister line to MinkPink): The Nowhere Fast Mesh Oversized Top. So amazing. Slightly sheer, button up front with a shirttail hem, perfect for layering and wearing open or done up. Can’t wait to style this beauty.

Dree’s outfit is exactly how I picture Spring dressing: neutral basics paired with soft prints and whimsical hues. Perfect for transitioning between seasons and mixing what you already have in your closet with new pieces. Simple, pretty.
