Heading back to Toronto today after a busy couple days here in LA, but I wanted to share a few of the details of my trip and give you a bit of an idea as to what I’ve been up to. Needless to say, it was a successful trip, and I’ll miss you, LA.

After a 5am wakeup time this morning, day one of my LA buying trip is almost over, and crawling into a hotel bed has never felt so well deserved. With a packed schedule and limited time, these trips are always such a whirlwind, but in the best possible way. Though today was overcast and I was a little disappointed at the lack of sun, I’m happy to be on the west coast, and in one of my favourite cities.

We’re in the midst of buying for Summer ’12 and getting ready to start with Fall, which is always something we look forward to. Searching for new lines, getting our first look at favourite collections and starting to piece together what the overall feel will be at the boutique for that particular season.
One of my appointments this morning was for La La Land, a line from LA that I immediately fell in love with. Perfectly simple silhouettes with fun animal prints? Sign us up.
I have a soft spot for both NYC and LA, both being cities that I travel to relatively frequently on buying trips, and I love how different they are from each other. Where NYC is fast paced, LA is laid back and it’s interesting to compare the differences in lifestyle and fashion. I like to think that Bicyclette draws inspiration from both (with a little Paris thrown into the mix), and caters to girls who would associate their personal style with both cities. Free People‘s new January catalogue captures the essence of each city spot on, and it’s fun to view the images side by side and dream up stories of both characters.
So the question is, are you an NYC or LA girl?

It’s about that time when we start getting excited for upcoming SS12 collections, and of course whenever possible, sharing the lookbooks with you. One of our favourite LA lines, For Love & Lemons (first introduced here) just released theirs, entitled ‘Day Tripper’, and inspired by 70′s rock muses and vintage thrillers.
“The Spring 2012 collection ‘Day Tripper’ is a story of a girl who’s traveling with a band, as rockstar’s muse. She is free-spirited, lovely, vulnerable and in love with the thrill. We’re always excited to bring in new lines, and LA brand Lauren Moshi is no exception. With it’s original prints and incredibly luxe fabrics, it fits in perfectly with the rest of the Bicyclette mix. The simple, comfortable silhouettes and gorgeous hand drawn illustrations mix what we love best and is destined to become a casual favourite.

If you follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, you already know that I (Paige) spent the past few days in LA, and probably got a sneak peek of some of the buying picks and trip snapshots that I’ve been posting. (Side note: Every time I embark on one of these trips I fall in love with my iPhone and it’s photo capabilities all over again. It makes documenting these mini trips such a breeze, and it’s fun to be able to share along the way!).
And so, without further introduction, I’ll let the photos do the talking.
This week has been a little on the crazy side, with a buying trip to LA, a lookbook photo shoot, an upcoming personal move and the usual weekly business, so the blog has been forgotten for the past couple of days but not for lack of activity. I’m starting to realize that there’s really no such thing as a slow week, but hey, I’m not complaining!
Today’s collection of images includes a little bit of everything, showcasing what we’ve been up to throughout the week, and some sneak peeks at some of the new pieces we have in the shop now, as well as items that we’ll be receiving in the next week or so and some behind-the-scenes snapshots from yesterday’s shoot. Like I said, we’ve been busy!
I’m off to LA tonight for a couple of days and a string of buying appointments, and I couldn’t be more excited. It’s starting to feel like a second home now that I’m visiting on a monthly basis, and it’s such a good opportunity to get away and find inspiration in a different locale.
I promise to take more photos this time, and document the trip more than I’m usually able to. These trips tend to be such a whirlwind, but I’m bringing along my Diana Mini, and I’ll also be tweeting photos throughout the trip.
