Thought I would share a little Polyvore love and current style inspiration in the theme of “back to school”. This is my updated, vintage-inspired version of a school uniform: pleated skirt, blouse, knee socks, satchel … it’s all there.
Bicyclette has a similar silk blouse arriving soon from Central Park West in either a solid ivory or snakeskin print, and a pair of high-waisted faux leather shorts from MinkPink in the Holiday delivery. Oh, yes.
And in the spirit of back to school, don’t forget that the shop is currently offering free shipping for a limited time. Take advantage!

This time of year, regardless of weather you’re heading back to campus or not, will always be classified as “back to school”. The excitement of new clothes and fresh starts, the change in weather and the slight chill in the air. So Bicyclette has decided to celebrate this and offer free shipping, regardless of whether or not you’re returning to school or not! A perfect opportunity to stock up on some new pieces for the wardrobe and save those shipping pennies for more important things …
A few snap shots from yesterday’s photo shoot. Looking back now, I wish I had taken more. Forgot about the Instax!
Shot by Kimberley Gordan (I Love Wildfox) of Wildfox Couture (another favourite line, as we all know), these behind the scenes shots from Odylyne‘s Fall Lookbook are what my dreams are made of: gentle light and flowing fabrics, natural backdrops and ethereal settings. The styling is simple and effective, capturing the decidedly vintage and bohemian mood of the line and leaving one word in my mind: beautiful.
After coming across these shots, I think you can expect more from Odylyne on the blog, as these have got me hooked, and I think the aesthetic is very closely aligned with that of Bicyclette.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I love layers. With Fall just around the corner and boxes of new merchandise arriving at the studio weekly, I’ve been on a mission to gather styling inspiration for the upcoming Bicyclette photo shoots.
Zara’s look books are always spot on, with a consistent theme and a focus on the clothes. This one, for the Fall Casual line, has a decidedly preppy vibe, with a hint of bohemian thrown in to keep it interesting. My favourite aspects? The layering (of course), mixing of prints (floral, plaids, stripes and graphics), and the socks with shoes and boots.
Feel free to point me in the direction of other Fall style inspiration, and I’m curious: what are your tips and tricks? What do you look forward to with Fall dressing?

Those who know me will know that I have a serious obsession with nail polish, and after this summer’s slew of pastel shades and bright hues, I’m ready for some neutral, more subdued colours to transition into Fall. So when I stumbled across the Deborah Lippmann site, it seemed meant to be. I’m still deciding on which are my absolute favourites, but these two: Waking Up In Vegas and Hit Me With Your Best Shot, are strong contenders. Hmmm?
The prospect of transitioning wardrobes is starting to excite me. Not fully overturning closets, but slowly starting to incorporate light layers and darker colours.
Today Audrey is wearing a few new pieces that have just hit the studio: A Trash & Luxury paper-thin tee, Dolce Vita allover studded skirt with full front zipper, and Central Park West draped sweater with zipper trim. These are a few of my favourite things, with tough-girl hardware details and a focus on embellishments and accents. Je t’aime.
Like? Love? Think it’s way too early to be thinking about Fall clothes and layering?
A little while back, I had the pleasure of having coffee with Corrine from Biko after a few e-mails back and forth. Not only was it great to be able to talk to a local Toronto entrepreneur who has been through a similar journey as me, but her Fall jewellery line is absolutely gorgeous, incorporating a variety of vintage elements and trinkets, and exploring contradictions within every piece.
… the richness of black velvet against old brass chain, the rawness of copper against silver, bold bad-girl chains mixed with delicate fringes, and sharp spikes and triangle charms strung on rounded hardware. I imagine this collection will be a bit of hot and cold, old and new, rough with girly touches, and of course, classic with a nostalgic twist.
I am beyond excited to start carrying Biko’s Fall line, and thought the perfect way to celebrate would be to share some of my favourite pieces with you.
A while ago, I wrote a blog post asking your opinion on three different Wildfox sweater styles, here. I ended up getting all three styles for Bicyclette: Baby Cheetah, Love Potion #9, and Queen of Hearts. The sweaters will be in the shop mid-September, but I thought I’d share some much better photos of the Love Potion #9 style, which is sequined, slouchy, and growing on me the more I look at it.
Based on everyone’s comments before, this was the least popular style, but I’m curious what your thoughts are now?
