But inspired by a post on the Free People blog today, our minds have turned to shop displays, and we’ve started brainstorming spring DIYs to transform our space. All it takes is the prospect of a little floral crafting to get us excited, as you can see. Between this post and a few other collection images, I’m starting to love the idea of random, pretty clusters “climbing” the walls.

With Christmas music playing we all shared a glass of wine, a cupcake (or two) and made some beautiful Christmas tags and cards.Renee was a great host and showed us all how to use an embosser technique to add shiny detailing to all of our crafts. We all used our imaginations and came up with some pretty unique and personal tags for all of our gifts this year! It was a great way to start off the holidays. Favourite movies are revisited (last night was Footloose and Grease, a couple of girlfriends and a bottle of red), and forgotten projects resurface. So these days, I’ve vowed to tackle my list of DIY’s and home projects, and keep myself inspired and creatively challenged.

So without further ado, here’s one project that is at the top of my DIY list. Metallic elbow patches, which coincidentally marries two of my loves right now: gold and knits.

Turns out they’re made of nylon mesh tube filled with tiny Swarovski crystals, resulting in glittery perfection. I see a DIY in our immediate future.

Nicole has a weak spot for burgers (hence the theme), so we thought it would be a fun surprise to decorate the shop diner style, featuring “fries” and mini cupcakes that looked pretty darn close to sliders and tasted delicious.

The whole event was so much fun to put together and such a success that I’m looking forward to hosting the next party, whatever that may be. So many options …

Two afternoons later, and we’ve made countless wrapped bracelets in a number of different combinations. We followed the instructions on Honestly WTF (the queens of DIY) and couldn’t be happier with the results.

Since our summer clothing sale is still in full swing, we’ve paired our new creations with a few of our favourite pieces, and included the sale prices for easy calculation. We have a few of the bracelets for sale in the shop, and will be adding more once we stock up on supplies.
