I’ve started a week of long nights adding product to the site, which means that yes, it’s almost there. Little by little, it’s starting to take shape before my eyes. Making buttons has become my preferred method of procrastination, and today I designed a series of floral patterned beauties, which I’ll post in a little while. I love how easy it is, and the satisfaction that comes from producing something yourself. A few moments here and there to grow my collection. I’m also experimenting with pinning them to my business cards to hand out.
Some favourite images from the MinkPink Spring ’11 look book. I’ll be doing the buy for Bicyclette next month (in mere weeks, really), so it’s nice to have a little preview of the pieces I’ll be seeing. Loving the muted, pastel tones and faded prints, and of course the vintage aesthetic and easy layering that MinkPink does so well. The photos all remind me of faded photos from vacations past. Looks like floral patterns, lace, and playing with shapes and proportions are here to stay for another season.
It’s really hot in Toronto right now. Hot enough that I’m hiding in my bedroom (since it’s the only room with the air conditioner) and working from there.
So for this edition of What Audrey Wore, I decided that it only made sense to pick a weather-appropriate outfit and focus on something that was easy, breezy and, well, as ventilated as possible. These high-waisted shorts are the perfect ditsy floral print and the loose fit is lightweight and comfortable. Not to mention that I can totally picture the original 90210 gang wearing them, and they’re bike friendly! Pair ‘em with a cream lace tank, floppy hat and mixed-metal chain necklace and you’re all set for whatever adventure the day might bring, regardless of how high the temperature rises.
Love ‘em or hate ‘em? A little too ’90s or the perfect retro floral infusion?
I’ll be adding Mink Pink to the Bicyclette lineup come October, and I couldn’t be more excited. The line is perfect, in my opinion – vintage-inspired and aware of trends, but not bound by them; young, fun and not afraid to play around with colour, pattern, texture and shape; and you couldn’t ask for a better price point.
And so, for those of you who haven’t already seen it, allow me to introduce some images from the Fall/Winter 10 collection. And don’t worry, I’ve pointed out which pieces I’ve bought for Bicyclette, so you can start compiling your wish lists!
Time for the big question – what’s your favourite MinkPink piece from this collection so far? Leave it in the comments!

I’m heading up to my cottage for the weekend for a little R&R and to get some work done, but as I run around scrambling to pack (one of my least favourite things, ever), I thought I would share my cottage style with you. The key is to pack easy pieces that are comfy and light, and to keep it simple. My go-to’s are denim cut-offs, oversized tees (Wildfox and Trash & Luxury styles are perfect), simple dresses, slouchy pants and breezy tops. And of course the perfect hat, sandal and pair of sunnies to finish the look.
What are your summer getaway essentials?
Cheers!

The new Trash & Luxury tees got a wee bit jealous after yesterday’s post featuring Wildfox. And so, in the name of fairness, here they are!
New Wildfox Couture tees, just arrived! And more chalkboard fun …
Luxe basics make me happy. I believe they should be a staple in any closet, but they’re also hard to find. I’m not talking American Apparel, but something with a little more class, a little more edge, a lot more personality, and that little something extra that makes you swoon.
So with that, I am extremely excited to introduce Heather to you, a line of not-so-basic basics that I’ll be carrying for the Fall. In a range of heathered neutrals (white, black, grey), these pieces have the softest touch, most gorgeous drape and are perfectly accented with hints of sequins, silk insets and sheer chiffon. Ah, there’s the swoon. Here’s a few images from the look book and a little teaser of what I bought for the shop …
The chalkboard wall is done! And to christen the wall, what better way than to display the new Dolce Vita Christian Dress in front of it? I didn’t have much time to get too fancy with it, but this gives you an idea of how I’m thinking of using it in the future. So fun!
This dress is the perfect example of a piece that is extremely easy to wear and fabulous on. Trust me, I tried it on as soon as it was unpacked, marvelling at the simple, comfy sexiness of it. (This is where having 24/7 access to a “store” full of clothes gets dangerous). The softest silk, just right neckline, and bejewelled neckline? Perfection.
As the long weekend comes to a close, it’s finally time to get back to the computer and deal with my other, online, Bicyclette reality. I’ve spent the weekend hunting for storage options (Saturday morning Ikea hell, let me tell you!), building shelves, sanding walls and painting rooms, cleaning, purging and organizing, and trying to sneak every moment of sun, biking and BBQs that I can. Yes, a very work-oriented long weekend, but you’ll find no complaints here.
I’m so excited to continue the switch of rooms in my apartment, moving our bedroom into the second room and transforming the old bedroom/large room into the Bicyclette studio/office/showroom. Everything is still a mess, but it’s starting to come together, and I’m hoping that by the end of this week, the majority of it will be complete. I promise that I will document the transformation with photos after all is said and done! Trust me though, at this stage, there is nothing you’re going to want to see. It’s very subtly organized chaos!
As I mentioned, I’ve been busy being away from the computer (a welcome change, I must say!), so for tonight’s post, I leave you with a quick snap of one of my favourite Bicyclette outfits thus far. Since Audrey the Mannequin took up a permanent residency in the studio, I’ve been constantly dressing her up and styling her in various items from the boxes of merchandise that have a temporary home in the middle of the floor. It’s been hard for me not to be able to properly display or organize anything, and since I’m such a visual person, I like to be able to see what it is I’m dealing with. So being able to put together outfits is the perfect way for me get my fix!
Everything you see here will be for sale on the website once everything is ready to go … crochet vest, silk crop top, organic cotton tank, lace skirt, Soos jewelry. I’m loving the play on proportions, mix of textures and hint of colour.
I’m thinking of making this a regular feature on the blog, is this something you’d like to see more of? Playing dress-up, putting together an outfit …”what Audrey wore” …”
