I’m back from my NYC trip and miss it already. It’s one of those cities that I fall in love with all over again every time I’m there, and there’s always so much to explore. We spent most of our time wandering the city and trying to see as much as possible, and of course went to NYIGF as well to scope out some new gift items for the shop. The weather was absolutely beautiful while we were there, and our final day was spent exploring the streets in the sun, with no need for our coats.
Alex and I are off to NYC tomorrow to spend some time at NYIGF and to do a little exploration in one of my favourite cities. We’ll be on the lookout for new lines and products for the shop, and will be taking as many pictures and eventually blogging our adventure.

We’re in the midst of buying for Summer ’12 and getting ready to start with Fall, which is always something we look forward to. Searching for new lines, getting our first look at favourite collections and starting to piece together what the overall feel will be at the boutique for that particular season.
One of my appointments this morning was for La La Land, a line from LA that I immediately fell in love with. Perfectly simple silhouettes with fun animal prints? Sign us up.
If you follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, you already know that I (Paige) spent the past few days in LA, and probably got a sneak peek of some of the buying picks and trip snapshots that I’ve been posting. (Side note: Every time I embark on one of these trips I fall in love with my iPhone and it’s photo capabilities all over again. It makes documenting these mini trips such a breeze, and it’s fun to be able to share along the way!).
And so, without further introduction, I’ll let the photos do the talking.
Back from NYC after a super successful whirlwind of a trip. We flew out early Monday morning and got back last night, so we didn’t have much time to pack in as much as possible, but considering the timeline, I think we did pretty well. The main priority was attending the gift trade show, where we were scouting for new items for the shop and thinking forward to the Christmas season (crazy, I know). We managed to find some great new lines and book some pieces that should be arriving at the shop over the next few months. I couldn’t be more excited. On top of that, we wanted to take advantage of the time we had there as much as possible, and spent every moment we had wandering the city in search of inspiration of every kind.
Here’s a little peek into our adventures and a mix of what we experienced, saw and bought for the shop

NYC outfit, day one. Yes, this is how I pack

NYC outfit, day two. A casual outfit in which to conquer the city

The fabulously intricate ceiling of our hotel lobby

And the details. Pastel hues and gold accents

Hotel staircase, so very NYC

Laduree ink pads in the prettiest packaging

Polka dot pens in an array of colours. Very Kate Spade - love!

Super cute agenda with metallic writing in various colours. Two sizes.

Glitter christmas tree ornaments: hearts, anchors and reindeer

Ice cream cone glass ornaments, sprinkled with glitter

Pretty patterned tape. Kind of in love

Bicyclette lights

Kate Spade, bought. They're my summer bonus

At Free People, wall display. Twigs are wrapped or painted and hung

More displays at Free People

Tiny silver tinsel Christmas trees

More multi-coloured patterned tape

Tokyo Milk perfumes and lotions

And little lip balms in the prettiest boxes

Bubble bath and spray painted books. Display idea?

Tocca perfumes with names like Stella and Brigitte

Old school wooden department store escalator

At DVF. Love the collage wall - writing and neon

True love at Miu Miu

Emma and I are heading to NYC next week for a couple of days and a whirlwind of buying, researching and inspiration hunting and we’d love to hear any suggestions of what we should do while we’re there. Favourite spots to eat, stores that will inspire and anything else we just can’t miss.

I’m off to LA tonight for a couple of days and a string of buying appointments, and I couldn’t be more excited. It’s starting to feel like a second home now that I’m visiting on a monthly basis, and it’s such a good opportunity to get away and find inspiration in a different locale.
I promise to take more photos this time, and document the trip more than I’m usually able to. These trips tend to be such a whirlwind, but I’m bringing along my Diana Mini, and I’ll also be tweeting photos throughout the trip.
See you in a few days, Toronto!

We are so excited to welcome a new label to Bicyclette based out of Southern California, For Love and Lemons. We fell in love with the clothes as well as the story behind the name. The founders who created For Love and Lemons, Gillian Mahin & Laura Hall, are lifelong friends who began their partnership at a young age running a Lemonade stand. They soon realized the Lemonade stand was more about the Love and less about the Lemons, hence where they got the name.
We are going to be carrying more pieces from the label this Fall and we can’t wait! In order to get our For Love and Lemon fix this summer, we have this edgy, black dress to curb our craving. As an ex-figure skater, this dress reminds me of my childhood uniform, but luckily it’s much more flattering and fashionable.

Heading to LA for a grand total of 24 hours, picking out new merchandise for the shop and soaking up as much sunshine as I can in the short amount of time I’m there. Follow me on Twitter for a play-by-play, photos included.
See you tomorrow, Toronto.

Just as I’m starting to crave Fall weather and wardrobe transitions, the Spring ’11 lookbooks start surfacing, tempting us with looks that we won’t be able to wear until 6 months from now. Working in this industry always throws your head for a bit of a spin and it’s hard to live and dress in the now and focus on what’s available and wearable in the present.
But don’t let that fool you, there’s also something incredibly exciting about booking lines so early and then having to wait so long, almost forgetting what awaits when you open those boxes come the following season. Seneca Rising is definitely a favourite, with it’s clever layering pieces, raw edges, subtle details, and inspired prints and patterns, and when I received the Spring ’11 lookbook, entitled “Valley of the Dolls”, I knew I was in for a treat.
The best part? I haven’t put in my order yet, so if something catches your eye, this is your chance to share your opinion and help in the buying process. Enjoy!
For behind the scenes shots, wander over to the Seneca Rising blog.
And also, don’t forget to check out Shop Bicyclette for two favourite pieces from the Summer ’10 collection, the Danny Dress and the Ella Vest. Even better? They’re both on sale!
