If you follow us on Instagram, you’ll already know that this past week we received our first shipment from LA line Wkshp at the shop, and we’ve been swooning over it ever since. It’s one of the many new lines we’ll be bringing in this season, and we’re incredibly excited about the simple and soft silhouettes, and the bold, colourful graphics. With a great price point (the tees are generally $50-60) and a number of amazing options, we’ll be receiving the line monthly from now on, and are looking forward to styling it for you.
We’ve had a number of requests for more ‘Outfitted’ posts, so as we began to receive our Spring pieces (and trust me, February is going to be packed with new deliveries), we’ll be sharing as much as we can here on the blog. For today, here are a couple of the styles we received this week, plus a number of our current favourite accessories that are perfect for layering.

Now's the perfect time to get creative with transitional dressing, mixing Spring's pastels and bright with neutrals and layers

We love the graphic print on this tee and the textured mix of blues and greens offset by the white outline

Pistachio hues are popping up on our nails, and on this La Raffinerie necklace, with golds and a bright blue bracelet from Lauren ELan
With the new collection of Butter London arriving earlier this week, and some new bracelet options starting to trickle in, we decided to repeat our arm party feature from the summer and load up our wrists for a little accessorizing fiesta. So with a mixture of new options and old favourites, voila!

I think it’s safe to say that there were two things in 2011 that we developed slightly unhealthy addictions to: neon and nails, and it looks like both of these will continue this year. No complaints there, especially with the new Butter London collection that just launched. Founding Creative Director Nonie Creme sums up the collection perfectly as “pops of neon colour, tempered by sherbet pastels and cool neutrals”. Basically, what our dreams are made of.
Needless to say, we’ll be stocking all of the colours, but we’re curious which shade you’re most excited to wear this Spring? I’m finding it hard to pick just one, but I’m pretty intrigued by the pale ‘Bossy Boots’.
When getting dressed these days, we’re finding ourselves tending towards layered knits, quirky prints and a dash of sparkle, whether it’s a casual outfit for running errands, or a more glam ensemble for a Holiday event. For today’s outfit, we decided to focus on a few new pieces that would be wearable everyday, and easily mixed and matched for a number of options.

Detailed nails are more coveted than ever and with our recent shipment of Butter London, we’ve gone nail crazy once again at Bicyclette. Looking at fashion week for SS ’12 we saw pretty nails popping up all over the runway. ButterLondon founder Nomie Creme says we’ll be seeing a lot of sherbet colours next season, including a new pistachio green from Butter. Nails are such a fun and creative way to add that extra touch to an outfit during any season! We are thinking it may be a good idea to have a DIY Nail Night here at Bicyclette in the near future where we can experiment and play with new colours and designs.

We received our collection of Tocca perfumes earlier this week, and with their pretty vintage-inspired bottles and sensual scents, they’ve been a welcome addition to the shop. We decided to do a little introduction for each of the “ladies” and put together an outfit that we think fits each of their unique personalities. The question is – which one are you?

Inspired by the playful and sensual beauty of Brigitte Bardot, this scent evokes the intoxicating aroma of Provence's spice markets

Inspired by the French novelist and libertine, Colette embodies the irresistible scent of a woman that lingers on the pillow long after she leaves
Since we’re receiving a lot of new Fall stock right now and the past month or so has been pretty slow with the outfit posts, I figure it’s only fair that I keep the outfit posts coming.
Today we received Eryn Brinie and I had to restrain myself from letting out a squeal when it arrived. Buying for the shop is one of my favourite aspects of the job, but it’s also the hardest. Not only are you buying for over 6 months in the future, but there’s also a tendency to fall in love with items only to have to wait until you’re able to lay eyes on them again, let alone wear them. The ivory sweater below is one such piece, and in many ways it exemplifies what Bicyclette stands for. It’s essentially a simple sweater, in a gorgeous ivory hue with a simple silhouette, but the beauty is in the detail: the feminine tulle hemmed camisole that comes layered under the sweater. Not only does it add that essential je ne said quoi to the piece, but because it is separate from the sweater itself, it lends itself to a world of layering possibilities with other items. And that’s what I call true love.

Bicyclette is excited to announce that we’re bringing on another full time employee, Emily! You’ll recognize Emily’s lovely face and fiery hair, as she’s been modelling for us for awhile now and helping out at the shop over the summer. As Emma’s summer internship comes to a close (sad face), Emily will be taking over many of her tasks and you’ll be seeing a lot more of her online. Welcome, Emily!
Where did you go to school, and what for?
I just graduated in June form the Acting Conservatory at York University. I’m currently pursuing a career in acting.
Favourite Toronto neighbourhood?
I’m loving Little Italy where I live. Best patios in town, chilled bottle of prosecco with a gooey margherita pizza- can’t beat it!
Wardrobe staples?
There is nothing I feel better in than a nice fitted jacket/blazer. Thats why I’m so excited for fall- Dark denim, a plain white tank and a cute blazer or jean jacket and I couldn’t be happier. My Deux Lux bag has also been a summer staple, I’m a bag lady.
What are you coveting for FW ’11 ?
I’m coveting layers, big knits, vintage bowl hats, glittery Jeffery Campbell oxfords, frilly socks, long skirts and tweed jackets.
What do you admire about Bicyclette?
I admire Bicyclette so much because it’s one big art project. Every time I come in I can look around and find new details everywhere. It’s a place where I feel free to express myself. Paige is such an artist and I love surrounding myself with people who inspire me. I’m a very creative person and Bicyclette allows me to release some of that at work- whether it’s taking photos, styling outfits, painting old knick knacks or listening to some great music.
Favourite style blog?
I love Cupcakes and Cashmere and I Love Wildfox. I like style blogs that use the word ‘style’ in the broader sense of the term, not just referring to what you wear.
Style icons?
Biggest style icon is Mary Kate Olsen. I love how effortlessly she mixes hippy/edgy with chic/classy. White tees, platforms, middle parts, baggy cardigans, sheer rock tees, huge scarves, vintage pieces- I love it all. She’s simplistically chaotic.
Top 3 items currently at Bicyclette?
1) Covet Grey Cropped Knit (featured below). It’s our first taster of whats coming for fall and it’s got me very excited for a cool breeze.
2) Equipment Bird Print Blouse. I’m loving all of our blouses but the print’s adorable.
3) Michael Stars Striped Sweater. I love simple, well fitted tops that are comfortable and that you can pair with a statement necklace or a great pair of shoes to spice it up.

We have a serious soft spot for Butter London nail polishes, and based on how quickly we’ve been selling through them at the shop, it would appear as if our customers feel the same way. With Fall just around the corner, we’ve been turning our attention to darker colours and dusty hues, and for our most recent order we focused on a lot of the shades that we’ve avoided all summer and were excited to bring in the new Fall collection as well.
With that being said, we received our shipment at the shop today and with over 25 new colours, we’re having a hard time choosing our favourites.

With a delivery of Triwa watches arriving yesterday, new Butter London shades last week and our constant collection of fabulous Lauren Elan and Biko bracelets and bangles, we decided it was time to partake in a little arm party action, Bicyclette style. The term was popularized by The Man Repeller, and basically involves loading up your wrists with as many pieces as possible, hence the party reference.
We’ve paired together our favourite nail polishes, watches and jewellery to create a few different characters, rocking their arm party’s in their own unique way.

Coco enjoys chilled white wine on shaded patios, mixing shades of ivory and anything lace. She's wearing the Triwa Brasco Watch in Naked, and a selection of Lauren Elan Carter and Aaron bracelets.

Lexie likes pool hopping and skinny dipping, floral mini dresses and anything bright (obviously). She's wearing the Triwa Brasco Watch in Colada, and a collection of Lauren Elan Josie and Misel bracelets.

Norah likes sipping Americanos from her local coffee shop, listening to vinyl and always gravitates towards black. She's wearing the Triwa Brasco Watch in Turtle, the Biko Chanmaille Cuff, and a wrap bracelet.

Nico likes sangria on the beach, feels the most at home in water, and loves anything maxi length. She's wearing the Triwa Brasco Watch in Sea Breeze, and a collection of Lauren Elan bracelets in shades of blue.

Olivia likes anything served in a martini glass, discovering new boutiques, and has a soft spot for glitter and sparkly embellishment. She's wearing the Triwa Chrono Watch in Greystone, and a tangle of mixed metal bangles including the Lauren Elan Carter bracelet.
