As mentioned before, I recently had the pleasure of being interviewed for Off the Map webzine’s Fall 2010 issue, and invited the team into the Bicyclette studio to take a peek into my world. Well, now the issue is out, so I can officially share with everyone and say a huge thank you and congratulations to the entire team for putting together a wonderful issue!

On top of the interview/photo feature, OTM also borrowed a few pieces from the collection to use in one of their fashion editorial spreads, another first for Bicyclette. I’ll let you find those for yourself though …

Hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend! I spent the majority of time organizing the studio and thrifting, managing to procure a fine selection of vintage goodies for the studio. Photos to follow.

I just had to share my love for this Acne shirt. Ever since I saw it, I’ve been obsessed with it’s just-right sheerness, the hard-to-perfect slouch, and the vintage-inspired floral pattern. Unfortunately it comes with a not-so-perfect price tag for my budget, but a girl can still dream, right? There’s something about oversized button-ups in flowing fabrics that seems so right for transitioning into fall and layering over leggings and denim, and under sweaters and leather jackets. And don’t worry, I haven’t forgot about this trend for Bicyclette: there will be a subtle ivory version as well as a snakeskin print hitting the store in the next month.

I’ve always had a dangerous obsession with anything sequined, and with Fall just around the corner, I’m looking forward to topping off slouchy graphic tees (shop Wildfox Couture or Trash & Luxury on Bicyclette) with sequin toppers: blazers, capes, vests, boleros … bring it on. Oh, and lot’s of layered jewellery, of course.

Good thing there’s the most gorgeous MinkPink sequin tuxedo blazer hitting the shop in October, seen in the look book preview here.

SENECA RISING . SPRING ’11

Just as I’m starting to crave Fall weather and wardrobe transitions, the Spring ’11 lookbooks start surfacing, tempting us with looks that we won’t be able to wear until 6 months from now. Working in this industry always throws your head for a bit of a spin and it’s hard to live and dress in the now and focus on what’s available and wearable in the present.

But don’t let that fool you, there’s also something incredibly exciting about booking lines so early and then having to wait so long, almost forgetting what awaits when you open those boxes come the following season. Seneca Rising is definitely a favourite, with it’s clever layering pieces, raw edges, subtle details, and inspired prints and patterns, and when I received the Spring ’11 lookbook, entitled “Valley of the Dolls”, I knew I was in for a treat.

The best part? I haven’t put in my order yet, so if something catches your eye, this is your chance to share your opinion and help in the buying process. Enjoy!

ODYLYNE . FALL BEHIND THE SCENES

Shot by Kimberley Gordan (I Love Wildfox) of Wildfox Couture (another favourite line, as we all know), these behind the scenes shots from Odylyne‘s Fall Lookbook are what my dreams are made of: gentle light and flowing fabrics, natural backdrops and ethereal settings. The styling is simple and effective, capturing the decidedly vintage and bohemian mood of the line and leaving one word in my mind: beautiful.

After coming across these shots, I think you can expect more from Odylyne on the blog, as these have got me hooked, and I think the aesthetic is very closely aligned with that of Bicyclette.

POLAROID LOVE .

There’s something so magical and mysterious about Polaroid photos, and with film being expensive and hard to find these days, there’s an elusive quality about them as well. When I came across Polaroid photographer Fernanda Montoro‘s work, I was blown away by the simple beauty of each image. The colours, the lighting, the textures, the mood conveyed through each piece is breathtaking. I’ve been using Polaroid imagery in the Bicyclette branding as well as a source of inspiration, but these photos have made me want to start experimenting more and explore other ways to incorporate it. STUDIO INSPIRATION . allister ann

I’m placing orders, prepping for the next Fall photo shoot, and tidying/organizing the studio today. Boxes of new merchandise have been arriving weekly, and so the studio is starting to burst at the seams again. Time for a little seasonal flip.

Discovered today that my beloved camera (which I thought had died for good) only needed a new battery (which comes with a much lower price tag than a full replacement!), which means that I’m now back in action and can share my own photos again. Hooray! I realized that I haven’t shared many studio photos aside from a few sneak peeks here and there, so that’s my goal for today.

In the meantime, a little studio inspiration from Allister Ann … so many elements I love (and many that are similar to those in the Bicyclette studio) and the photos themselves are pieces of art.

HEART OF GOLD . wildfox zodiac tees

Love the simplicity of this look and the gorgeous minty colour. The simple layered accessories and the long length. I’m currently on a hunt for long skirts and dresses for the shop, as I think they make the perfect transitional piece.

LAYER CAKE . style inspiration

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I love layers. With Fall just around the corner and boxes of new merchandise arriving at the studio weekly, I’ve been on a mission to gather styling inspiration for the upcoming Bicyclette photo shoots.

Zara’s look books are always spot on, with a consistent theme and a focus on the clothes. This one, for the Fall Casual line, has a decidedly preppy vibe, with a hint of bohemian thrown in to keep it interesting. My favourite aspects? The layering (of course), mixing of prints (floral, plaids, stripes and graphics), and the socks with shoes and boots.

Feel free to point me in the direction of other Fall style inspiration, and I’m curious: what are your tips and tricks? What do you look forward to with Fall dressing?
