You’ll never see me without my nails painted – it just doesn’t feel right. Over the past few seasons we’ve seen nail art increase in popularity, reaching beyond the traditional colour offerings and opening up a whole new world of possibilities. We’ve carried Butter London since we first open, and their line continues to be our go-to for nail lacquer.
To be honest, I had been a little bit skeptical of the nail wrap trend when it first surfaced, but after falling in love with a set on my most recent trip to LA from NCLA that are adorned with colourful, silhouetted palm trees and just feel ‘So LA’ (which, coincidentally, is what they’re called), I bought a couple styles to try out, and as soon as I realized how easy they were to put on and how fun they are, I was sold. Which is why we’ll also be welcoming a number of products from the NCLA collection into the shop. The perfect summer accessory.
Last week we shot our March lookbook (which we’ll be releasing later this week!), and because our shelves are fully stocked with pastels for the nails and brights for the lips, it only seemed fair to put the spotlight on a few of our favourite beauty products for a change and play with the new colour palettes for spring.
The NYX Matte Lipsticks and Butter London collection are available both online and in-store, and we have lots of jewellery, sunnies, and floral crowns to accessorize with at the shop, in whatever colour you fancy.

With our March lookbook being shot tomorrow evening, we’ve been busy styling the outfits and pulling together beauty inspiration. We looked to the SS13 runways and were happy to learn that colour is making a big splash this season, and the mood is fun and experimental, with bright pops of colour showing up in a number of ways. Last week we posted about hair chalk, which is another trend we’ll be touching on, but today we wanted to focus on makeup. For tomorrow’s shoot we’ll be playing with bold colour on the lip, using Nyx’s Matte Lipstick (which we just restocked in our favourite brights), and also bringing a swipe of unexpected colour to the eyes, as seen below.
It’s always a fun process to look up inspiration for upcoming shoots, and with all the spring arrivals full of pastel blues, pinks and purples we are considering adding some color to our hair with hair chalk. Seen in the latest look books of Wildfox and Free People, we think this hair trend is definitely going to stick around for the upcoming spring season. It’s such a cool, easy, and non-permanent way to add some fun and edge to your look. Maybe you’ll see this trend in our upcoming wanderlust look book? You’ll have to follow us to find out!
We believe that the holidays go hand-in-hand with sparkle, and a dash of glitz is the perfect accessory to any outfit, whether heading to a party, shopping for gifts, baking cookies or anything in between. What better way to dress up your go-to top knot than with this Ban.do crystal hair piece?
With our love for accessories and all that sparkles, is it really any surprise that we’ve fallen for the most recent jewellery trend, ear cuffs? A little odd, perhaps, but with some truly gorgeous options out there, we’re liking the possibilities and the fact that it’s an unexpected embellishment that has an ethereal quality.
Paired with a romantic, slightly undone bun (a la Cara Delevingne, below), we think it could be perfect for the Holidays.

I think it’s safe to say that there were two things in 2011 that we developed slightly unhealthy addictions to: neon and nails, and it looks like both of these will continue this year. No complaints there, especially with the new Butter London collection that just launched. Founding Creative Director Nonie Creme sums up the collection perfectly as “pops of neon colour, tempered by sherbet pastels and cool neutrals”. Basically, what our dreams are made of.
Needless to say, we’ll be stocking all of the colours, but we’re curious which shade you’re most excited to wear this Spring? I’m finding it hard to pick just one, but I’m pretty intrigued by the pale ‘Bossy Boots’.
